The Islamic Academy of Burlington County was officially founded in September of 2008 and is now registered with the state of New Jersey Department of Education as a private school. The formalized school was the natural progression of what had been a homeschooling network beginning in July 2005. Currently the environment of the school is much like a group of homeschooling families working together with the advantages of a formalized structured entity. The 2009 academic year began with 16 registered students and 4 full time teachers as well as several volunteers. The school is currently offering a program that includes PreK and goes up to 4th grade. We hope to add an additional grade each school year, inshallah, and eventually move towards a complete PreK-12 program.
For the secular academic studies a highly rated program by Calvert Educational Services is utilized for the earlier grades. This education is supplemented with a thorough understanding and emphasis on Quran, Sunnah, Prophethood, and related concepts and themes in order to help build a complete Islamic Character. The program, inshallah, will continue over the coming years to place an emphasis on character building through an integrated islamic cirriculum and will strive to keep a traditional Islamic environment in the school.
